RED HOOK ENERPHIT STUDIO

Targeting Passive House in the Red Hook neighborhood of New York City, this old masonry building achieves exceptional energy performance.

Goals.  The renovation of this aging brick building rises to meet multiple goals, including exceptional energy performance targeting the Passive House EnerPHit Standard, durability/longevity, and resilience.

Mixed Use.  The mixed use structure includes a music recording studio on the first level and a residential apartment on the second level.

Post Sandy.  Additionally, in light of the flooding and destruction caused by Hurricane Sandy in Red Hook, the renovation intends to improve the resiliency and durability of the building in the event of a flood.

Envelope & Systems.  The renovation incorporates R-25 walls, an R-100 roof, triple-pane windows, heat recovery ventilation, and an air-source heat pump as the primary source of heat.
