Wayland AFFORDABLE HOUSING

89 Oxbow is an Energy Star rated 16-unit affordable housing development in three separate buildings.

The developer asked ZED to analyze the building designs and performance, recommend cost-effective energy efficiency improvements, lead a green charrette, and provide financial arguments to support a green affordable housing grant application.

Within the scope, ZED performed a cost-benefit analysis that factored energy performance benefits and cost data from a local contractor. Using this analysis, ZED illustrated the total cost of ownership after improvements for each unit.

With ZED's aid, the developer was awarded a $250,000 grant from the Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) which was applied both toward the building envelopes and solar electric systems.
